What is Kickboxing?

Kickboxing in Basingstoke combines the punching techniques of boxing with powerful kicks from martial arts like Muay Thai and Karate. It's a dynamic striking system that uses both your hands and legs as weapons.

Our kickboxing classes teach you proper punching combinations, devastating kicks (round kicks, front kicks, side kicks), knee strikes, and footwork. You'll work on pads, bags, and partner drills to develop real striking ability.

Whether you want incredible fitness, practical self-defense, competition training, or just to try something exciting, kickboxing delivers fast results while being genuinely fun to train.

Why Choose Kickboxing?

The benefits of kickboxing training in Basingstoke

Ultimate Calorie Burn

Burn 800-1000 calories per kickboxing session. The combination of punching and kicking creates one of the most intense full-body workouts available.

Complete Self-Defense

Learn to defend yourself with strikes at all ranges. Kickboxing gives you more options than boxing alone - strikes with hands, feet, elbows, and knees.

Explosive Power

Develop devastating striking power. Kicking engages your entire body, building explosive strength in your legs, core, and hip rotation.

Improved Flexibility

Kicking naturally improves flexibility and mobility in your hips, legs, and core. You'll move better in everyday life and reduce injury risk.

Competition Ready

For those interested in competing, we provide training for kickboxing competitions and interclub events. Build skills for K-1, glory-style rules.

Stress Destruction

Nothing relieves stress like throwing powerful kicks and punches. Kickboxing provides incredible mental health benefits and mood elevation.

Kickboxing vs Other Martial Arts

Kickboxing vs Boxing

Boxing uses only punches. Kickboxing adds powerful kicks, knee strikes, and uses more of your body. You get a more complete striking system and even better workout.

Kickboxing vs Muay Thai

Muay Thai includes elbows and heavy clinch work. Kickboxing focuses more on kicks and punches with less clinching. Both are excellent - we teach Muay Thai too!

Kickboxing vs MMA

MMA includes wrestling and ground fighting. Kickboxing stays standing with pure striking. Perfect if you want striking focus without grappling elements.

Kickboxing Classes

Kickboxing techniques are integrated into our Muay Thai classes, which teach both traditional Muay Thai and kickboxing-style striking. Check our timetable for Muay Thai sessions.

Kickboxing FAQs

Do I need experience for kickboxing classes in Basingstoke?

No prior experience needed! We teach kickboxing from the ground up, starting with basic punches and kicks before progressing to combinations and advanced techniques.

Is kickboxing good for fitness?

Absolutely! Kickboxing is one of the best full-body workouts. You'll burn 800-1000 calories per session while building strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination.

Will kickboxing help me lose weight?

Yes! The high-intensity nature of kickboxing combined with the calorie burn makes it extremely effective for fat loss and body transformation when paired with proper nutrition.

What's the difference between kickboxing and Muay Thai?

They're very similar. Kickboxing focuses on punches and kicks. Muay Thai adds elbows, more clinch work, and has different rules. Both are taught at our gym and share many techniques.

Will there be sparring in kickboxing classes?

Controlled sparring is available for those who want it, but it's completely optional. Most people train kickboxing purely for fitness and self-defense without ever sparring.

What should I wear to kickboxing classes?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing. We provide gloves and shin guards. Many members wear shorts and t-shirts or rash guards. No shoes needed - kickboxing is trained barefoot.

Kickboxing FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book

Do I need to be flexible for kickboxing?

No. Flexibility improves as you train. Coaches show you kicks at a height that suits you.

What's the difference between kickboxing and Muay Thai?

Kickboxing uses punches and kicks. Muay Thai adds elbows, knees and clinch work. Both are great for beginners.

How much do classes cost?

Your first class is completely free — no card, no commitment. After that, drop-in classes are £10, or monthly memberships from £40/month give you unlimited access across all disciplines. No long-term contracts — cancel anytime.

Do I need any experience?

Absolutely not. The majority of our members had zero experience when they walked through the door. Every class is taught from the fundamentals up, and our coaches are experienced at working with complete beginners in a friendly, ego-free environment.

What should I bring to my first class?

Just yourself, comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle and a towel. We provide all the equipment for your first class (gloves, wraps, pads). Trainers are fine — no special footwear needed for most classes.

Is there parking at the gym?

Yes — we have free on-site parking at Unit E7 Grafton Way. There are spaces directly outside the gym, so no faffing around looking for a meter or paying to park.

Where are you located?

What age groups do you take?

From age 5 upwards. We run dedicated kids classes (5–10), teens classes (11–16), and adult classes (16+). Most of our adult members are 25–50 but we have members training happily from late teens to mid-60s.

Will I have to spar or get hit?

No. Sparring is completely optional and only introduced once you have the technique and confidence for it. Most classes focus on technique, pad work, bag work and fitness — there is no contact with other members in standard classes unless you choose to spar.

How fit do I need to be?

You don't — boxing will get you fit. Every class scales to your level. Work at your own pace, take breaks when you need to. Our coaches are experts at meeting people where they are and progressing them at the right speed.

How do I book my free trial?

Click any Book Free Trial button on this page. You'll be taken straight to our booking system where you can pick the class and time that suits you. Takes about 30 seconds. We'll see you there.
