Let's Be Honest

Some women feel nervous about walking into a boxing gym for the first time. It's understandable — there's a stereotype. But at Basingstoke Boxing Classes, that's not what you'll find.

A significant proportion of our members are women. They train alongside men, they get the same quality coaching, and they are equally respected. There is zero tolerance for intimidating behaviour.

You will never be pressured to spar. You'll never be put in a situation that makes you uncomfortable. You come, you train hard, you leave feeling great.

Why Women Love Boxing

Best Cardio of Your Life

Burn 600–800 calories per session. Boxing training develops cardiovascular fitness faster than almost anything else — and it's genuinely enjoyable.

Real Self-Defence

Learn practical skills that give you genuine confidence in your safety. Boxing teaches you awareness, assertiveness, and effective techniques.

Body Transformation

Boxing tones your arms, core, shoulders, and legs simultaneously. Members consistently report dramatic improvements in how they look and feel.

Earned Confidence

There is something uniquely powerful about learning to hit hard and defend yourself. The confidence this builds transfers into every area of life.

Great Community

Our female members form a tight, supportive group. Training together, pushing each other, and celebrating progress is a big part of what makes the gym special.

Stress Destruction

There is nothing quite like hitting a bag after a difficult day. Boxing forces you to be present, switch off from stress, and feel incredible afterwards.

Your Honest Questions Answered

Will I have to spar?

No. Sparring is completely optional and is never required. The majority of our female members never spar and don't want to — they train for fitness, self-confidence, and the skills. Pad and bag work is the core of every class.

What should I wear?

Comfortable workout clothing — shorts and a t-shirt, or leggings and a sports top. No special equipment needed to start. We provide boxing gloves and pads. Just bring water and a towel.

Will I get hurt?

No. Boxing training (hitting pads and bags) is very safe when done with proper technique, which our coaches teach from day one. There is no contact with other people unless you choose to spar later on.

Am I fit enough to start?

You do not need to be fit to start. Boxing classes will get you fit. We scale every session to your current level. Everyone starts somewhere.

Will I feel out of place as a woman?

Not at all. Women make up a significant portion of our membership. Our coaches are experienced at teaching all genders and abilities. The environment is welcoming and supportive.

Can I come with a friend?

Absolutely — and many women do. It can help to have someone to train with, especially for your first class. Both of you train for free the first time.

How much does it cost after the free trial?

Drop-in classes are £10. Monthly membership (unlimited classes, all disciplines) starts from £40/month. No long contracts — cancel anytime.

Is it a good workout for weight loss?

Yes — one of the best. Boxfit and boxing classes burn 600–800 calories per 60-minute session. Combined with any reasonable eating habits, members consistently see body composition changes within 6–8 weeks.
